10 Things to Pack in Your Carry-On Bag
After one of our fabulous travel agents in Myrtle Beach has helped you plan the perfect vacation, there is one big question: what do I pack?!? Here is a list of the top ten things we recommend you have in your carry-on bag when you travel through airports.
- ID
One of the most important things you need when traveling is your ID. A driver’s license works domestically, but when you travel internationally, it is very important to have your passport with you and easily accessible at all times.
- Credit Card and Cash
This is the second most important thing to have. Anything you have forgotten can be bought. It is good to have both a credit card and cash because–especially when traveling to remote regions outside of metropolitan areas–you may be limited in payment options.
- Extra Change of Clothes
Having an extra change of clothes in your carry-on luggage is great to have if your flight gets delayed or your baggage gets lost. You might spill a drink or go back and forth from cold planes to hot airports. Either way, extra few pieces of clothes are nice to have and give you the option to layer.
- A Snack
Your normal eating times will be hard to stick to when traveling. The plane might not serve food, and you didn’t get anything substantial at the airport. A good go to snack will be nice to have; trust us.
- Chargers
For any electronics you take, pack the charger in the bag next to them. Many airports have free charging outlets and making sure your electronics are fully charged will keep you productive or provide entertainment during the flight.
- Books
Even though you can now use most electronics during the entire flight time, you may want a break from your screens. There is nothing like getting lost in a book on a long flight. Plus, isn’t a vacation the perfect time to catch up on that reading list?
- Crossword Puzzle / Sudoku
A lot of traveling through airports is hurry-up-and-wait. Having several different activities planned for yourself will make the trip much more pleasant. If you’re traveling with kiddos, time-consuming but entertaining puzzles can be the ticket to peace as well.
- Chewing Gum
A good, mint-flavored chewing gum is nice to have in your carry on for several reasons. First of all, you may not be able to brush your teeth for a while, and the mint can help freshen your breath and leave your mouth with that good clean feeling. Secondly, sometime during take-off and landing the air pressure will change and make your ears pop. Chewing gum will help ease this for you.
Traveling with children? This pressure change is felt more in young kids which is often why they cry so much when the plane is landing. Chewing and sucking can release these tension, so gum or candy can help ease this and provides a distraction.
- Tissues
Shifting climates and temperature changes as you travel through time zones is bound to make your nose run. These can also double as napkins.
- Hand Sanitizer
Because germs.
