Traveling with a Photographers Eye:
The best way to remember a time well spent on a vacation is by photographing the memories along the way. Those photographs can be even better when you are in the ultimate photogenic destinations! Check out this list of the most picturesque spots all over the world!
Serengeti National Park
When it comes to a destination centered around seeing wildlife, the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is the best place to visit. This national park is home to the largest concentration of large mammals, from giraffes, elephants, hippos, and lions! You will also be able to spot over 500 species of birds flying through the sky (or walking in the case of the ostriches and flamingos). The best time to see all of these animals is during the Great Migration, appropriately nicknamed the “Greatest Show on Earth.” This journey is one that between one and two million herbivores take every year to follow the rains across the Serengeti to find fresh green pastures. You can watch from the relaxation of your safari vehicle as you follow animals like wildebeests on their journey. The Serengeti is also one of the best places to capture photos of more than 300 lions in their natural habitat.
The Swiss Alps
The Swiss Alps in Switzerland is known as a top place for winter sports, but it is also popular as a top spot for spectacular scenery. The top of many bucket lists on a trip to the Alps is always the Matterhorn. It is hard to miss the most photographed mountain, which is easily identifiable due to its similar appearance of a jagged tooth in the mountain tops. You can capture the best views by visiting the Gornergrat, a rocky ridge that gives you the best overlook of the alps and the Matterhorn. You can also visit the observatory at night to catch a glimpse of the night sky. The Swiss Alps aren’t limited to just the winter season; you can enjoy the fresh mountain air in the summer as well! It may be a small country, but it’s hard to see all the beautiful sights in just one trip. The best way to achieve this is by taking the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. You will experience a total of eight routes that feature castles, snowy cliffs, and historic cities.
Annecy
France is every photographer’s dream, from bustling cities to quaint little towns there are so many places to be captured. One place that flies under the radar is the town of Annecy. This sleepy little city is located in the southeast of France and overlooks its namesake of Lake Annecy. The lake itself is a wonderful destination as it is the largest lake in France and features crystal clear water with beautiful greenery around it. Surrounding the lake is a bike path and wide trail populated daily with active groups of joggers, walkers, bikers, and people just out for a simple stroll in the fresh air! This city is a beautiful place to visit no matter the time of year. The city has cobblestone streets accented with colorful historic buildings giving a perfect photo opportunity around every turn! Annecy is found between the banks of the River Thiou, which is the inspiration behind its nickname of the Venice of the Alps. The entire city is connected across the canals by various bridges, similar to the Venice canals. There is the main bridge that even has a story of its own. The Pont des Amours (Lover’s Bridge) is an iron bridge which legend says that if lovers kiss in the middle of the bridge, they will be together forever!
